“The Good El Rancho Vista Feeling"…

Welcome to El Rancho Vista Estates (ERVE) — Our beautifully preserved midcentury modern neighborhood in Palm Springs, California. This is the official site of our neighborhood organization, dedicated to sharing the history and ongoing preservation of our historic community.

Designed by renowned desert modernists Donald Wexler and Richard Harrison in partnership with visionary developer Roy Fey, ERVE was built in three distinct phases. The homes designed by Wexler & Harrison (Phases 1 & 2), constructed between 1960–1962, represent the first — and only — intact single family home subdivision of this scale created by this master architectural team. ERVE today includes 72 largely original homes from those Wexler & Harrison phases, many lovingly restored by passionate owners to retain their iconic midcentury modern character.

Phase 3, starting in 1964, expanded the neighborhood with complementary ranch style residences developed by Roy Fey with architect Joe Koch, continuing the desert modernist spirit while broadening ERVE’s architectural footprint.

Located in northeast Palm Springs at Gene Autry Trail and Vista Chino, bordering Gateway Park and the Palm Springs sign, El Rancho Vista Estates is recognized as a Class 3 historic asset by the City of Palm Springs (Historic Resources Group, Citywide Historic Context Statement & Survey Findings, 2018). That designation highlights our significant collection of Wexler & Harrison homes, our wide, view maximizing streetscapes, and our important contribution to the city’s architectural legacy.

We actively participate in Palm Springs preservation and celebration through OnePS and Modernism Week. Explore our history, learn about our designers and architecture, and discover upcoming community events below.

Explore Our History

What makes our community so special is its architecture, and the design legacy it inspired. We’re proud to be the largest, and the first, collection of residential tract homes designed by iconic architects Donald Wexler and Richard Harrison that remain largely true to their original form.

Our varied rooflines and curved streets create a special architectural footprint in the city, and  continues to draw global visitors to our neighborhood, especially during Modernism Week feature home tours and broader neighborhood events.
